Following concerns raised from sections of society, including members of the clergy, over certain scenes in the music video “Budget” by Yo Maps Yo, discussions have been held on possible edits to align the visuals with Zambia’s cultural values and public expectations.

The video, which features Dizmo and FranK Ro, has attracted over 1.4 million views since its release and sparked mixed reactions across social media and traditional media platforms.

The Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM), working alongside the National Arts Council (NAC), confirmed that they engaged the artist’s team after the backlash emerged, with the aim of finding a balanced solution that respects both creative expression and public sentiment.

ZAM president B Flow stated that while artistic freedom is fully recognized, there is also a responsibility when producing content that reaches a wide and diverse audience.

He explained that the artist’s team has been advised on how certain scenes in the video could be edited directly on YouTube if they choose to proceed, rather than removing the video entirely from the platform.

According to ZAM, the guidance provided is purely advisory, and no final decision has yet been confirmed by the artist or his team regarding whether the video will be edited.

At the moment, the situation remains under review as the “Budget” team considers the feedback and recommendations from industry stakeholders.

Further updates are expected as the story develops.
