“Photoshoot” doesn’t sound like a beginner’s move.

From the first listen, it feels polished. The vibe is smooth, the delivery is confident, and everything just sits right. It’s the kind of track you’d expect from someone already deep in the game.

But that’s where it gets interesting.

The artist behind it, Smigo VL, is still on the come-up. No loud hype, no big co-signs yet. Just consistency, patience, and a clear direction.

What makes it even more unexpected is where he’s coming from.

Outside the music, Smigo VL is a student at the Copperbelt University, studying in the School of Mines and Mineral Sciences. A space known more for hard hats and calculations than melodies and studio sessions.

Balancing that kind of academic pressure while building a sound in Afrobeats isn’t easy. But somehow, he’s making it work.

“Photoshoot” feels like a statement. Not loud or forced, just confident enough to let the music speak for itself.

And if this is the level he’s starting from, it raises a bigger question.

How far can he really go from here?
