Mrs. Loveness Maambo Mayaka has officially been approved as the new Clerk of the National Assembly of Zambia.
Her appointment was confirmed by the National Assembly after a Parliamentary Select Committee reviewed her qualifications and experience.
Speaking in Parliament, Siavonga Member of Parliament Darius Mulunda said Mrs. Mayaka has the right experience and qualifications for the job.
Kasama Central Member of Parliament Sibongile Mwamba also supported her appointment, saying she is well qualified to serve in the role.
Mrs. Mayaka has worked in the National Assembly for more than 20 years after joining the institution in 2005.
From 2015 to 2022, she worked as Principal Clerk for Research, where she helped with parliamentary research, policy analysis, and institutional development.
She later served as Deputy Clerk for Administration from 2022 to 2025, helping manage operations in the National Assembly.
Before being officially approved for the position, she had already been serving as Acting Clerk of the National Assembly since April 2025.
The Clerk of the National Assembly is one of the most important positions in Parliament and is responsible for advising and helping run the institution.
Her appointment marks a major achievement in her long career in Parliament.
