President Hakainde Hichilema has called on voters in Kapiri Mposhi to protect what he described as Zambia's economic recovery by renewing the UPND's mandate in the upcoming general election.

Speaking during a campaign rally, the President warned against returning leaders he accused of mismanaging the country's economy. He said those responsible for past economic challenges are now seeking another chance under a different political banner.

Hichilema pointed to several programmes introduced under his administration, including free education, meal allowances for students, bursaries, social cash transfers and the construction of student hostels. He said these initiatives are improving opportunities for many Zambians.

On agriculture, the President said the government has removed more than 200,000 alleged ghost beneficiaries from the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP), arguing that the move has helped ensure support reaches genuine farmers.

He also unveiled a multi-billion kwacha development agenda for Kapiri Mposhi. The proposed projects include rehabilitating the railway network, establishing a dry port linked to the TAZARA corridor, addressing the district's long-standing water supply challenges, completing the Lusaka–Ndola Dual Carriageway and upgrading township roads.

According to President Hichilema, continued investment and the successful delivery of these projects will depend on voters renewing the UPND's mandate in next year's general election.
