Brian Mundubile says his newly launched presidential campaign fundraising drive has made a strong start, with supporters contributing more than Eight Hundred Sixty Thousand Kwacha in cash within its first twenty four hours.
In a public update shared on Sunday, the NRPUP presidential candidate also said his campaign team had recorded financial pledges worth Two Million Eight Hundred Thousand Kwacha, which he expects to be received during the week.
Mundubile described the response as an overwhelming show of confidence in his campaign, saying he was grateful for the support coming from both within Zambia and from Zambians living abroad.
He thanked a wide range of supporters, including marketeers, farmers, public transport drivers, university and college students, miners, nurses, teachers, council workers, business owners, landlords, tenants, doctors, uniformed officers, welders, salon and barbershop workers, security guards, domestic workers, villagers and members of the diaspora.
According to Mundubile, the donations and pledges reflect what he believes is growing public support for his presidential bid under the National Republican Party United Platform and the Tonse Pamodzi Alliance.
He encouraged supporters to continue donating, sharing information about the fundraising platform and mobilising others ahead of next week's election, saying the campaign belongs to the Zambian people.
The figures announced by Mundubile are his campaign's own claims and had not been independently verified at the time of publication.
